This award supports research on the molecular mechanisms of biological oscillators, focusing on oscillatory gene expression, segmentation clock mechanisms, and post-transcriptional regulation in vertebrate development.

Description

Biological oscillators, the rhythmic and regular increases and decreases of gene expression, drive many dynamic molecular and morphological processes. This project aims to identify novel oscillatory genes involved in regulating segmental pattern and stem cell maintenance, generate reporters that recapitulate oscillatory expression in real time, and identify post-transcriptional features and factors that drive the decay phase of the oscillatory cycle.
