Description
This project tests an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)-based intervention aimed at increasing autonomous motivation and physical activity among post-metabolic and bariatric surgery (MBS) patients to prevent weight regain. The study involves a randomized controlled trial with 164 post-MBS patients, comparing ACT targeting autonomous motivation versus a control group receiving physical activity-focused education. Both groups participate in group workshops via Zoom, with assessments at multiple time points. Primary outcomes include physical activity levels and weight regain; secondary outcomes include motivation and acceptance.
