Recipient

Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA, United States

Award Amount

$771,150.00

Ceiling

$771,150.00

Awarded

January 26, 2026

Identifier

5R01AG087374-03

The award funds the development and application of advanced lipid imaging techniques to study Alzheimer's disease pathology at the nanoscale level, focusing on lipid accumulation and organelle morphology using expansion microscopy.

Description

This project aims to develop multiplexed ultrastructure expansion microscopy (multiplex-umExM) that preserves lipids and allows molecular contrast to study lipid accumulation and organelle morphology in Alzheimer's disease. The project will optimize and validate the imaging method for human brain tissue and perform comprehensive characterization in mouse and human tissues, enabling nanoscale, molecularly specific imaging of lipid and organelle properties in Alzheimer's disease.
