Description

The project investigates how aging-related amyloid accumulation affects HIV reservoirs and how HIV infection and ART may accelerate Alzheimer’s disease (AD/ADRD). Using aged, SIV-infected, cART-treated rhesus macaques, the study explores the intersection of HIV, neurodegeneration, and aging. It aims to study the impact of amyloid fibril deposition on HIV reservoirs and assess how viral infection influences aging-associated amyloidosis and AD-ADRD development.
