VA-funded research project testing an IVR-enhanced smoking cessation and pain self-management intervention for Veterans with chronic pain. The project compares PASS-IVR with enhanced treatment as usual and examines abstinence, pain interference, and implementation factors.

Description

A randomized comparative effectiveness trial evaluating whether adding an Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system to an integrated pain and smoking cessation intervention improves smoking abstinence and pain interference among non-depressed Veterans with chronic pain. The study plans to enroll 220 participants and compare PASS-IVR with enhanced treatment as usual plus pharmacotherapy teleconsultation.
