NIH awarded a grant to the University of Virginia to develop and test a mobile-based intervention system for social anxiety disorder using smartphones and smartwatches to deliver personalized micro-interventions.

Description

This project aims to develop and test a mobile-based intervention system for social anxiety disorder. The project involves data collection via smartphones and smartwatches, biomarker identification, and a pilot study. The system will be deployed to socially anxious individuals to identify biomarkers of state anxiety and optimize intervention content and timing. A pilot study will demonstrate the proof-of-concept, with participants receiving Just-in-Time Adaptive Interventions (JITAIs).
