Development of an informatics platform to monitor and quantify electric power wheelchair usage to detect cognitive decline in individuals with Alzheimer's and related dementias, funded by the National Institute on Aging.
Description
Proposed is an informatics platform for caregivers of wheelchair operators with or at risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Alzheimer's Disease Related Dementias (AD/ADRD), and cognitive impairments. The project aims to develop a production-ready system, perform a monitoring study with powered wheelchair users, and evaluate system and algorithm performance in quantifying driving habits and cognitive changes. The project focuses on aging populations with cognitive impairments affecting mobility.
