Description
This project aims to define the relationship between right ventricular (RV) steatosis, RV function, and exercise capacity, identify drivers of RV steatosis such as BMPR2 expression and lipid metabolism, examine lipid metabolism in skeletal muscle, and test the effects of metformin on RV and skeletal muscle steatosis. It addresses a critical gap in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) pathophysiology by exploring a novel mechanism of RV failure, with potential therapeutic implications.
