Description

Understanding how neurons are correctly assembled into functional circuits will provide critical insight into developmental disorders of the nervous system and may inform strategies to promote neuronal repair in cases of injury or disease. The research investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying the function of the conserved Dcc axon guidance receptor in promoting axon growth in the developing nervous system. The findings will inform the study of development in many tissue types, as axon guidance signaling molecules play diverse roles during tissue morphogenesis.
