Description

This project focuses on the use of rifaximin as a method of secondary prevention of recurrent pouchitis to decrease the burden on patients and the health system, and to inform the mechanisms of recurrent pouchitis. The study aims to demonstrate feasibility, safety, and explore microbiome differences during 12 months of treatment, using stool samples and patient-reported outcomes. The study will inform future multicenter randomized controlled trials and develop tailored interventions for high-risk patients.
