Description

This study investigates whether Medicaid managed care organizations (MMCOs) influence healthcare and outcomes of Americans with diabetes differently across 12 states and the District of Columbia. The project involves developing a dataset of MMCO and state program features over 2016-2025, analyzing Medicaid encounter data to test the impact of these features on diabetes care, and conducting interviews with stakeholders to contextualize findings. The focus is on non-disabled, non-pregnant adults aged 18-64 with type 2 diabetes, aiming to understand how MMCO and state program features affect care and health outcomes.
