Description
Aging associated muscle loss, pathologically called sarcopenia, is related to dysfunctional mitochondria, metabolism, muscle function, and redox stress. Exercise and resistance training have been identified as one of the few viable therapies to slow or possibly reverse sarcopenia. This proposal aims to identify the acute redox-sensitive signaling mechanisms following muscle contraction affected by age, which may be targets for novel therapeutics to decrease or reverse sarcopenia.
