Description

The project aims to develop the VisionWay framework, a mobile, local, outside map for PVI users to analyze accessibility of paths before walking. The project involves multimodal vibro-audio feedback and live updates of dynamic data. The project is funded by the National Eye Institute under the NIH grants program. The project team includes engineers, computer scientists, clinicians, and individuals with lived experience of vision impairment. The project has multiple aims including measuring PVI accessibility, adopting multimodal path presentation, generalizing and testing the framework, and planning for dissemination and sustainability.
