This award supports research on how DNA repeat silencing influences the effectiveness of ATR inhibitors in treating prostate cancer, with the aim of improving treatment strategies through novel combination therapies.
Description
The project aims to determine how changes in DNA repeat silencing affect DNA break localization and number, explore mechanisms by which retroelement transcription increases breakage, and assess if inhibiting retroelement silencing synergizes with ATR inhibitors to suppress tumor growth in prostate cancer mouse models. The goal is to identify new mechanisms of cancer cell sensitization to ATR inhibitors and develop novel combination therapies for castration-resistant prostate cancer.
