Award supports a biospecimen repository and pathology core that manages tissue and blood samples, performs histopathological and molecular analyses, and integrates data to advance sarcoma research.
Description
The Biospecimen Repository and Pathology Core (CF1) supports basic and translational research efforts of the SPORE. It collects, annotates, stores, distributes, and tracks tissue and blood biospecimens from research protocol patients. It provides histopathological evaluation of tumor samples, assists in selecting formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue and snap-frozen tissue, and enables creation of tissue microarrays (TMAs). CF1 performs and interprets immunohistochemical studies and FISH assays, provides digital archiving of TMA images, and assesses tumor response to therapy. It offers mutational annotation of sarcoma samples using the MSK-IMPACT platform and links specimens to the clinical sarcoma database (CRDB). The core is integrated with the MSK Pathology Core and the sarcoma clinical database.
