NIH funded research project to implement and evaluate HomeVENT, a decision-support tool for families and clinicians making home ventilation decisions for children with medical complexity, involving multiple institutions and measuring family and clinician outcomes.
Description
A multi-institutional implementation and evaluation of HomeVENT, a decision-support process including a web-based tool to help families deliberate how their home life context and values affect decisions for or against home ventilation, and a structured team deliberation tool for clinical teams to assess treatment options in light of family values. The study aims to recruit 150 families and 300 clinicians across four diverse institutions, measuring outcomes at 1, 6, and 12 months focusing on family preparedness, shared decision-making perception, and quality of life.
