Research project studying norepinephrine receptor subtypes in the prefrontal cortex to develop better treatments for stress-related mental disorders including PTSD and schizophrenia.
Description
The proposed research will examine the receptor subtypes through which stress impairs higher brain functioning in order to design more effective therapies. The study focuses on the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (dlPFC) and the effects of norepinephrine receptor subtypes on neuronal firing during working memory tasks, aiming to identify more selective and effective therapies for stress-related mental disorders such as PTSD and schizophrenia.
