Description

The Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) provides support for the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center (HCCC) at the University of Iowa, the only NCI-designated cancer center in Iowa. The HCCC leverages a highly collaborative culture to advance transdisciplinary cancer research, including basic science, translational research, and clinical trials. The center has organized into four research programs: Cancer Genes and Pathways, Experimental Therapeutics, Free Radical Metabolism and Imaging, and Cancer Epidemiology and Population Science. It supports infrastructure, shared resources, and community outreach, especially focusing on disparities such as rurality, obesity, and HPV vaccination. The HCCC has a robust research portfolio with over $23 million in external support annually, including $11 million from NCI, and has published over 1,100 peer-reviewed publications.
