Description

The project aims to determine the cell-type specific mechanism of coupling and identify molecular candidates expressed by these cell types using human and mouse models of autosomal dominant osteopetrosis type II (ADOII). ADOII is characterized by high skeletal bone mass and increased fragility, resulting from pathologic coupling. The studies could be critical in developing new treatments for osteoporosis, which affects 54 million elderly Americans.
