Development and testing of a fully autonomous digital cognitive-behavioral therapy intervention for opioid use disorder with co-occurring internalizing disorders, involving modification and clinical trial phases to provide a scalable treatment.

Description

This project aims to develop and test a fully-autonomous (no-human operator) CBT-based digital therapeutic for comorbid opioid use disorder (OUD) and internalizing (anxiety and depression) disorders that targets compulsive opioid use motivated by relief of unpleasant emotions. The project involves modifying an existing digital therapeutic in the first phase and testing it in a clinical trial in the second phase. The goal is to provide a scalable, inexpensive intervention based on a neuro-behavioral model of addiction.
