Research project funded by NIDDK to study iron metabolism disruption in kidney fibrosis and develop therapeutic strategies to prevent CKD progression.

Description

This project aims to elucidate how disrupted iron metabolism in chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients impacts proximal tubular epithelial cells involved in disease progression. The studies focus on the effects of iron on injury and survival of these cells and identify strategies to slow disease progression by targeting kidney iron metabolism.
