A research project funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases to study the nuclear egress mechanism of KSHV, a gamma-herpesvirus linked to cancers, with the goal of identifying therapeutic targets.
Description
This project aims to characterize the mechanism of Kaposi’s sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) nuclear egress to improve understanding of herpesvirus biology and identify potential therapeutic targets against KSHV and its associated malignancies. The research will use advanced imaging and structural biology techniques to study nuclear egress and nuclear membrane remodeling events in KSHV infected cells.
