The award supports research to identify molecular resilience mechanisms and develop therapeutics to prevent cognitive decline and dementia, continuing the Rush Memory and Aging Project.
Description
This project is a continuation of the Rush Memory and Aging Project (MAP) focusing on the identification of novel therapeutics to prevent cognitive decline, MCI, and Alzheimer’s dementia. The research aims to identify genes and compounds affecting molecular resilience in a human cell model derived from autopsied MAP participants. The study involves autopsies, skin biopsies, and drug discovery screens in fibroblast-derived neuronal models to find compounds that enhance resilience.
