Description
This administrative supplement application requests $70,000 in direct costs for 12 months to sustain progress on an NHLBI-funded K23 project during a qualifying critical life event (childbirth). The parent K23 applies (1) EHR-derived prediction modeling, (2) machine learning subphenotyping, and (3) whole methylome profiling to study the clinical and biological heterogeneity driving divergent clinical outcomes in non-ARDS acute hypoxemic respiratory failure (NAHRF). The project aims to advance management of critically ill adults with NAHRF toward precision-based approaches informed by biologic mechanisms. The supplement will support additional personnel to preserve key project operations during and after a temporary reduction in research effort, ensuring continuity of data processing and enrollment activities. The anticipated outcome is uninterrupted momentum toward parent-award milestones, facilitating timely completion of the K23 specific aims and supporting research independence.
