A research project funded by the Veterans Health Administration to study non-invasive Vagal Nerve Stimulation as a treatment for veterans with mild traumatic brain injury and PTSD, aiming to improve brain function and reduce symptoms.

Description

This project explores the effects of non-invasive Vagal Nerve Stimulation (nVNS) or sham treatment on brain, cardiovascular/sympathetic, and immune responses to stress in combat veterans with mTBI and PTSD, using high-resolution PET and blood biomarkers. The hypothesis is that nVNS will improve brain function, memory, and reduce PTSD symptoms, providing a promising approach for veteran rehabilitation.
