Description
This project aims to identify risk and resilience factors underlying health disparities, focusing on parental mental health among Black parents of autistic children (ages 3–9) and the downstream effects on child behavioral and developmental outcomes. Using a mixed-method, cross-sectional study design, 300 Black parents/caregivers in NC and PA will be recruited. The study employs a community-partnered participatory framework to examine risk and resilience, with specific aims to understand the impact of trauma and social support on parental mental health, child behavior, and development, and how social capital moderates these effects.
