Description
The project aims to study how conventional interventions for severe OCD—intensive exposure and response prevention (ERP) therapy and standard medication management—affect neural circuits involved in avoidance and aversive uncertainty. It will identify abnormalities in brain regions such as vlPFC, rACC, insula, dACC, OFC, and rostral striatum, and track changes over an approximately 8-week treatment course in 95 individuals with OCD. The study will utilize serial MRI (functional and structural), clinical assessments, and digital phenotyping to understand the relationship between neural network changes and clinical outcomes, ultimately informing new interventions and optimizing current treatments.
