The WARRIORS trial investigates whether women with small abdominal aortic aneurysms should undergo earlier repair than current standards, aiming to improve outcomes and establish sex-specific guidelines.

Description

The WARRIORS trial is an international, randomized controlled trial comparing early elective endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) with routine surveillance in women aged 50+ with small asymptomatic abdominal aortic aneurysms (4.0-5.4 cm) suitable for EVAR. The trial aims to determine whether women should have different criteria for AAA repair to improve survival and quality of life, addressing sex-specific clinical guidelines and health equity.
