Research project funded by NINDS to study cholinergic degeneration's impact on cognitive fluctuations in Lewy body dementia, using MRI, EEG, and clinical assessments, aiming to develop new therapies.

Description

This project aims to elucidate the role of central cholinergic degeneration in cognitive fluctuations in Lewy body dementia (LBD). It will establish paradigms for assessing cognitive fluctuations in real-time using EEG, MRI, and clinical assessments, and evaluate the effects of cholinesterase inhibitors. The research aims to develop new therapeutic strategies targeting the cholinergic system to improve quality of life.
