The award funds a study to assess atrial fibrillation incidence in cancer patients treated with BTKIs and develop a machine learning-based prediction model to identify high-risk patients, enabling personalized treatment and monitoring.

Description

This project aims to systematically assess the incidence of atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients with hematologic malignancies and develop a multimodal AF prediction risk model using machine learning to identify those likely to develop AF when treated with Bruton’s tyrosine kinase inhibitors (BTKIs). The study involves continuous monitoring with smartwatches and patch monitors, development of a prediction algorithm trained on ECG data, and external validation at the Mayo Clinic.
