Description
This study aims to investigate the associations between cumulative urban heat island exposure and Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia (ADRD) risk factors, MRI biomarkers, and cognitive outcomes. It will explore mechanisms linking heat exposure to ADRD and assess whether greenspaces can mitigate these effects. The research involves creating GIS measures of heat exposure for 500 participants in the Healthy Brain Initiative (HBI) and validating findings with data from the Health and Retirement Study. The findings could support targeted interventions to reduce heat exposure and prevent ADRD in vulnerable populations.
