Description
This study investigates whether Medicaid managed care organizations (MMCOs) influence healthcare and outcomes of Americans with diabetes differently across 12 states and the District of Columbia. It aims to develop a dataset of MMCO and state program features from 2016-2025, analyze Medicaid encounter data over a 10-year period, and incorporate stakeholder interviews to contextualize findings. The focus is on non-disabled, non-pregnant adults aged 18-64 who are relatively stably covered by Medicaid. The study employs panel data models and qualitative interviews in Kentucky and Florida to understand how MMCO design and implementation affect diabetes care disparities.
