This award funds Core B, a genomics and bioinformatics core at University of Pennsylvania, supporting vaccine development research against Clostridioides difficile through genome analysis, antigen design, microbiome sequencing, and data management.

Description

Core B (Genomics Core) will provide key support to the mVACS team in Clostridioides difficile genome sequence analysis, antigen design, microbiome sequence analysis, routine statistical analysis, and high content data management. It will use advanced genomics-based methods to quantify C. difficile genome composition and genetic variation, and associate these with outcomes. The core will support analysis of protein structure, characterize DNA inversion systems, and carry out transcriptional profiling on C. difficile isolated from vaccinated and immunodeficient mice to assess immune response mechanisms. The aims include identifying targets for modified mRNA vaccines, assessing variation in vaccine targets, and conducting microbiome sequencing for mechanistic studies.
