A research project funded by the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute to study the impact of a parenting intervention on early childhood cardiometabolic health among at-risk families.

Description

This study aims to evaluate whether a parenting intervention, Promoting First Relationships® (PFR), can improve cardiometabolic health outcomes in children by enhancing parenting quality during early childhood. The study will involve 214 mother-child dyads from an original RCT, with assessments including anthropometric measures, blood pressure, blood samples, activity and sleep monitoring, and questionnaires. The intervention is hypothesized to increase maternal sensitivity, parent understanding, mother-child relationship quality, and child self-regulation, thereby reducing long-term disease risk.
