Award to University of Washington for a project to address HIV and alcohol use stigma by developing and testing a decision support tool to increase alcohol treatment uptake among people with HIV.
Description
This K01 career development proposal aims to characterize patient and provider perspectives on stigma and preferences for using patient-reported stigma measures; co-design a stigma-centered decision support tool using human-centered design methodology; and evaluate the acceptability and effectiveness of the tool in reducing unhealthy alcohol use in a pilot clinical trial across three CNICS sites. The research focuses on stigma related to HIV and alcohol use, development of decision support tools, and a pilot clinical trial to assess tool effectiveness.
