Description

This study will enhance knowledge of cochlear processing deficits contributing to speech intelligibility challenges in individuals with sensory hearing loss by using direct recordings and modeling of inner ear motions to investigate how normal and damaged cochleae process dynamic, ecologically relevant sounds, and identify ways to assess these processes through noninvasive measurements. The findings will guide the development of new diagnostic tools and treatment strategies, such as advanced signal-processing algorithms in hearing aids, aimed at restoring normal cochlear function in complex acoustical environments in cases of hearing loss.
