Description
This project aims to inform national overdose prevention and treatment strategies for high-risk adolescents by analyzing nationwide, longitudinal Medicaid claims data from 2016-2022, encompassing over 400,000 overdose events in adolescents aged 12-18 years. The study will estimate the prevalence of adolescent nonfatal drug overdose, identify high-risk demographic and clinical subgroups, examine receipt of behavioral health treatment post-overdose, and estimate incidence and risk factors for repeat overdoses. The findings will generate actionable estimates to improve targeted prevention and treatment strategies.
