Research project funded by NINDS to study Parkinson's disease mechanisms and potential therapies using a genetic mouse model.

Description

This project studies the progression of brain circuit and motor dysfunction in a genetic mouse model of Parkinson's disease to understand the resilience and dysregulation of brain function due to degeneration of substantia nigra dopaminergic neurons, and explores correction of abnormal circuit activity to rescue movement or prevent neurodegeneration.
