This award funds a project to perform whole genome sequencing and admixture analyses on diverse cohorts in the USA and Brazil to study Alzheimer's Disease and related dementias, focusing on genetic diversity and neuropathologic traits.

Description

The project aims to deliver a comprehensive set of whole genome sequencing (WGS) data from individuals of African, European, and Native Brazilian ancestry, and analyze their associations with Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias (AD/ADRD) clinical and neuropathologic traits. The study will extend previous work by leveraging diverse cohorts in the USA and Brazil, including the Pathology, Alzheimer´s and Related Dementias Study (PARDoS). Key aims include generating additional WGS data, performing admixture mapping, estimating telomere length, and examining mitochondrial DNA associations.
