NIH funded research to study the role of hypothalamic astrocytes in obesity-related hypertension by modulating astrocytic signaling pathways to understand their impact on blood pressure regulation.

Description

This NIH grant project aims to investigate how astrocytic activity influences neuronal circuits and blood pressure regulation in obesity-associated hypertension. The study will use chemogenetics to modulate astrocytic Ca2+ and cAMP levels and assess effects on renal sympathetic nerve activity, blood pressure, and heart rate, particularly in high-fat diet-induced obesity.
