This NIH-funded project seeks to establish a novel in utero trophoblast transgenesis method to facilitate placental research, with potential implications for understanding pregnancy disorders.

Description

The project aims to validate a novel in utero trophoblast transgenesis approach using lentiviral infection of blastocysts in utero. This method provides a rapid, trophoblast-specific, and highly efficient way to evaluate critical mediators of placental development and pregnancy-associated disorders. The approach eliminates the need for highly specialized staff, reduces technical complexity, and does not require embryo culture in vitro.
