Description
This research targets Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD), a prevalent genetic disorder and the fourth leading cause of kidney failure. The project investigates how urate transporters GLUT9 and ABCG2 influence intracellular urate and water transport regulation in the renal collecting ducts, potentially inhibiting cyst growth by suppressing vasopressin (AVP) release. The study explores mechanisms by which increased intracellular urate controls AQP2, cyclic AMP, PKA, and AMPK activities, and assesses the impact of ABCG2 inhibition and deletion on renal cyst growth and water reabsorption.
