Description
Rutgers New Jersey Medical School APIL Core facility seeks funding for an IVIS Spectrum 2 instrument. The Spectrum 2 enables imaging of fluorescent, bioluminescent, and chemiluminescent molecules in live animals, tissues, and cells. It will be utilized to study drug delivery and distribution, disease progression in tumor and infection models. The instrument features a thermoelectrically cooled CCD camera, enabling use of a broad range of bioluminescent, fluorescent, and chemiluminescent reporters, as well as Cerenkov luminescence. It provides highly sensitive, non-invasive 2D bioluminescence and fluorescence imaging, which can be reconstructed into 3D images. The device has a standard high-throughput 22.5 cm field of view for simultaneous imaging of 5 mice, extendable to 10 mice with an optional manifold. Transillumination from underneath allows detection of fluorescence from deep tissues, and epi-illumination supports higher throughput imaging. The image analysis software is widely adopted, intuitive, and user-friendly. It removes autofluorescence, quantifies multiplexed fluorescent signals, and reconstructs 3D images in the context of anatomical structures. Accessories streamline workflow and increase throughput. This cutting-edge in vivo optical imaging device will propel research forward and lead to therapeutic advances to improve human health.
