A research project funded by the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute to study the real-world effects of GLP-1 receptor agonists on disease progression and costs in people with HIV and type 2 diabetes, using large-scale data and causal inference methods.

Description

This project aims to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of GLP-1 receptor agonists in people with HIV and type 2 diabetes, using large-scale real-world data and advanced causal inference methods to inform clinical guidelines and improve patient outcomes. The study will leverage a nationally representative medical-claims database to compare GLP-1RA initiators with initiators of other antidiabetes medications to estimate effects on cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic syndrome progression and lifetime costs.
