Description

This project aims to improve classification of type 2 diabetes (T2D) using diverse data types across multiple cohorts, focusing on precision medicine strategies. It involves assembling, harmonizing, and integrating clinical, genetic, metabolomic, socioeconomic, behavioral, neighborhood, environmental, and disease outcomes data from 10 diverse populations totaling 55,766 individuals. The project will build and cross-validate models for classification of T2D subtypes and assess their risk for cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, retinopathy, and mortality. The goal is to establish physiological drivers and precise definitions for T2D subtypes to develop more efficient precision medicine-based prevention and treatment strategies.
