NIH awarded a Mentored Research Scientist Development Award (K01) to Dr. Rosemary Bayless at North Carolina State University for research on neutrophil-targeted therapy for severe asthma using withaferin A. The project will use in vitro and in vivo models to study the drug's mechanisms and aims to develop effective therapies for neutrophilic asthma.

Description

This Mentored Research Scientist Development Award (K01) supports Dr. Rosemary Bayless, DVM, MS, PhD, DACVIM (LAIM), in establishing her independent research career studying novel therapies for neutrophilic asthma and other neutrophil-mediated diseases. The project aims to investigate the mechanisms of a novel therapeutic, withaferin A (WFA), focusing on its effects on neutrophil migration, efferocytosis, and airway inflammation in a mouse model.
