Research project funded by the National Heart Lung and Blood Institute to study factors affecting quality of life in acute respiratory failure survivors, focusing on uncertainty and health expectations to develop targeted post-ICU interventions.
Description
This project aims to elucidate key factors associated with the development of modifiable contributors to quality of life in acute respiratory failure survivors, focusing on bothersome uncertainty and health expectations as potential targets for novel interventions. The study involves characterizing the prevalence of bothersome uncertainty in a cohort of 65 ARF survivors and conducting at least 25 semi-structured interviews to explore experiences shaping uncertainty and expectations. The work will inform the development of post-ICU interventions and provide preliminary data for future research.
