Description
The project aims to improve the understanding of dynamic and reciprocal processes influencing how parents rate and respond to pain in children who have difficulty expressing themselves verbally due to intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). It involves recruiting parent-child dyads with children aged 1.5 to 5 years with global developmental delay, video recording during clinically-indicated blood draws to evaluate pain expression, parental pain intensity ratings, and behaviors. The goal is to improve pain assessment and treatment in children with IDD.
