Description
This project investigates PD-relevant dopaminergic neurotoxicity from a genotoxicant, 2-amino-1-methyl-6-phenylimidazo[4,5-b]pyridine (PhIP), formed during cooking of meats, poultry, and fish. The research aims to understand how PhIP induces neurotoxicity and pathology related to Parkinson’s disease, focusing on mechanisms involving neuromelanin, mitochondrial dysfunction, DNA adduct formation, and protein aggregation.
