Description
The renewal of the animal protocol “Deciphering the mechanisms mediating the dichotomous effects of fever on brain function and behavior” was approved by the Animal Care and Use Committee on 07/29/2023. Despite challenges, significant progress has been made, including identifying brain networks involved in ASD, discovering abnormal brain plasticity related to in utero insults, demonstrating fever's potential to alleviate ASD symptoms by dampening voltage-gated channels, and uncovering neural circuit mechanisms during fever. The work aims to extend these findings across multiple genetic variants associated with ASD and epilepsy, advancing therapeutic strategies.
